I was on a mini hiatus thanks to a hectic work schedule and a short trip to San Diego, but I’m back and let me catch you up to speed with this little pre-Valentine’s Day treat my boyfriend got me since we weren’t going to be together for the Hallmark-iest of holidays.

He surprised me with a chocolate croissant and chocolate cupcake from Thomas Keller’s Bouchon Bakery, and clearly those hours of making him watch Top Chef, where Keller is a frequent guest, clearly paid off!

Interestingly, being a cupcake fiend, you’d think I’d be gaga over the mini cakes. But no, it was the croissant with its velvety chocolate interior, that had my undivided attention. Those stale croissants at your nearby bakery are nothing compared to this gourmet—albeit monstrously sized—pastry.
