I’m trying to make good on my promise to explore more of Brooklyn, so a few weekends ago, I ventured to Boerum Hill to have brunch with a girlfriend of mine. She’s one of my favorite dining buddies because like me, she’s vegetarian (well, I’m almost vegetarian), she prefers long dinners to bar-hopping and appreciates the beauty of good ice cream.

We chose Jolie in her ‘hood and sat in the beautiful outdoor patio

Nothing like dining al fresco

What’s in it for you: Brioche French toast with fruit brochette; chocolate and banana crepe; La Campagnarde omelet (eggplant, goat cheese and sun-dried tomato); ravioles de royan (country style mini ravioli gratinee)

What’s in it for them: Smoked salmon and bagel; hanger steak and steak; eggs Jolie (English muffin, roasted pepper with garlic, cilantro, chorizo, and tomato hollandaise, open face croque monsieur; le poulet roti (roasted chicken on ciabatta)

Coffee, bread and jam to start the meal

I was all about eggs this morning, so I went for the Eggs Vegetarian, which was a meat-free twist on eggs Benedict.

Eggs Vegetarian: Red sweet onion, spinach and tomato hollandaise sauce

My friend was in a savory mood, too, and went for the vegetarian omelet.

La Vegetarienne with mushrooms, asparagus and blue cheese

The dishes were totally satisfying, the service was great and the wait was short; all in all, a perfect brunch spot!

And to top off the uber-hot day, we headed to Blue Marble ice cream for a sweet treat. They have some of the smoothest, creamiest ice cream in the city. I’m crossing my fingers they open one in Manhattan soon!
