The best part of my neighborhood is the FOOD. If you don’t think restaurants were in the criteria for my apartment hunt, you clearly don’t know me.

During day one of moving two weekends ago, my boyfriend and I settled down to brunch…at 5 p.m. That’s what happens when you’re schlepping boxes and bags; you forget that you actually need sustenance to move said items.

We settled on Prince Street Cafe & Catering, which sounds more like a business-y, midtown-y lunch spot than it actually is. It’s a cozy cafe with a huge back area, awesome menu and great vantage point for people-watching. We were lucky to snag the love seat couch at the restaurant’s edge facing the street.

What’s in it for you: All sorts of breakfast items served all day like banana pancakes, organic eggs and granola with yogurt; butternut squash soup; falafel burger; roasted portobello mushroom panini; Parmesan gnocchi

What’s in it for them: Grilled marinated chicken sandwich; Polish ham sandwich; sirloin burger; seared ahi tuna burger; sauteed shrimp quesadilla wrap; BLT panini; curried chicken wrap

Craving breakfast and lunch equally, we decided to split the frittata (with fingerling potatoes, sweet onions, peppers, goat cheese and herbs) and the sirloin burger:

Frittata, $10.50

Sirloin burger, $12

Two major thumbs up because not only was the food super tasty but the portion sizes were huge, too. Considering each dish is big enough for two, especially the frittata, and considering the price, it’s a really economical meal.

Oh, but we weren’t done there. We were like animals when we finally sat down after all the moving and had to treat ourselves to shakes—me the banana-chocolate and he the cappuccino.

I think I’ve found my go-to neighborhood spot! Success.
